Convergence – the act of moving towards union. Project Convergence is a dance company that creates space for a dualistic first-generation voice. Built to celebrate the union of analogous experiences through dance, the project explores the results of combining two distinct realities in the same space. Conceived by Vikas Arun and Ramita Ravi, the vocabulary draws on their unusually extensive training in both classic and modern Indian and Western dance in hopes of showcasing the beauty of diversity while respecting tradition. The group has performed for clients such as Buzzfeed and Spotify, received praise from major newspapers such as The Hindu, and shared videos in partnership with Bollyshake and DanceOn. They are proud to be artists in residence at the American Tap Dance Foundation and are thankful for the opportunity to share this experiment with audiences across the world.
